Jazz On Tap is a weekend dance festival for dancers ages 8+, packed full of master classes from captivating instructors and performances from dance studios, pre-professional companies, and professional companies. The festival began in the hopes of bringing the fire and excitement of live dance to the public and over the years dancers have traveled to Georgia from 20+ states to add their spark to the flame.

SARAH GOLD

Musical Theatre

Based between Atlanta and New York City, Sarah is a dynamic dancer and passionate performer. Her love for her craft began at the ripe age of four, and has since become the very heartbeat of her life. She values hard work, kindness, and story-telling through movement. Her expertise stretches across many dance styles including tap, jazz, ballet, theatre dance, partner work, hip hop, contemporary, and ballroom.  Some of her favorite credits include: West Side Story at IHI Stage Around Tokyo, An American in Paris at Ogunquit Playhouse, Netflix RedNotice, Tyler Perry’s A Jazzman’s Blues, and Apple TV’s Severance. She loved her time traveling the world and performing internationally onboard Royal Caribbean Cruise lines and wouldn’t trade it for the world. She received her Bachelor’s in Performing Arts from Oklahoma City University, where she majored in dance, and minored in history. She enjoys teaching dance to students of all ages and instilling in them a passion for the arts and discipline that will carry them through life. With a career that began in musical theatre, she is now joyfully pursuing TV and film and is proud to be represented by CESD Talent in New York City and Xcel Talent Agency in Atlanta, GA.

KATHERINE MAXWELL

Contemporary

Creating work for the main stage, alternative spaces and for film, Katherine Maxwell has been presented across New York City venues including Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum, Victori + Mo Gallery, The Center for Performance Research, and Atlantic Terminal-Barclay’s Center. She has been fesatured in Art Zealous’ “30 Under 30-Ish,” Vice, and her dance film Through The Eyes of My Meal has been screened at 13 international festivals, in addition to receiving a Vimeo staff pick and Critics Choice on Nowness. Maxwell established Hivewild in 2016 as a platform to create formal works, engage the Brooklyn community, and promote artistic partnerships between visual artists, musicians, costume designers, and beyond. Maxwell is actively interested in using movement as a platform for mindfulness and human acceptance, and her practice seeks to continuously blur the edges between performance, installation, and human encounter.

BRE STERLING

Hip Hop

Bre Sterling, a creative director, choreographer, and dancer was born and raised in Washington, DC. She is an alum of Kennesaw State University, with a major in Dance (Modern Concentration). Bre’s formal training started at Black Experience Dance Troupe (B.E.D.T), where she studied west african, modern (Graham and Horton technique), liturgical, tap and ballet. As she grew older, she trained with Footsteps Dance Academy learning jazz and lyrical. She then moved to Georgia and trained with The Royal Dance Academy under Sarah Haslock-Johnson and Jay Johnson, where she studied multiple dance disciplines including Hip Hop, modern (Horton and Graham technique) and the international ballet curriculum of the Royal Academy of Dance. Bre has also had the opportunity to perform in works by Madia Cooper-Ashirifi, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Jolie Long, James Graham, Sean Nguyen-Hilton, and Omar Román De Jesús. Bre started working summer programs, but her content creation blending hip-hop and contemporary, put her in high demand. Her choreography has earned a ton of awards and recognition, including outstanding choreographer awards and double platinum awards. With Bre having the opportunity to teach at different dance studios in Metro-Atlanta, she is more than honored to share her knowledge with those around the world.

JAY FAGAN

Tap

Jay hails from Chicago and is amongst the most sought after Tap Masters in the industry today. After completing two years with OKCU in its artist in residency program, Mr. Fagan is once again touring with festivals, workshops, and conventions. His polished performances have been seen by the President of the United States, at the Kupio Dance Festival in Finland, Trump Plaza in Atlantic City, Canadas Windsor Casino Showroom, and Las Vegas’ Flamingo, Luxor and Suncoast hotels. Jay has worked with DEA, DMA, CNADM, Dance Olympus, Starquest, The Kansas Tap Festival, Southeast Tap Explosion, Third Coast Rhythm Project and the Chicago Human Rhythm Project.

CASSANDRA SPRINGS

Jazz

Cassandra Pappy Springs is a business owner, choreographer, and dance educator currently living in Atlanta, GA. Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina,  her breadth of dance experience has afforded her the opportunity to train and work with teachers, choreographers, dance teams and students across the nation. She received her early competitive dance training from Dance Productions Performing Arts Studio in Charlotte, NC and later pursued higher education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). There she served as a member and captain of the Spartan G's dance team and graduated in 2012, with B.A. in Dance and a K-12 teaching licensure in dance.  She has trained in the genres of ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, modern, lyrical, West African, hip hop and heels technique. As a competitive dancer, Cassandra held the title of Miss Dance of North Carolina and was a National Senior Soloist winner in Las Vegas. After graduating from UNCG, Cassandra taught dance in the North Carolina Public School System for 7 years. She began her professional performing career as a member of Techmoja Theater and Dance Company, dancing and acting in productions such as “The Color Purple” and “Dreamgirls”.   She has also choreographed and performed for international recording artist IYAZ, toured with multi-platinum recording artist Ginuwine, and choreographed and performed for Grammy nominated producer/artist Imani. In 2019, Cassandra appeared as a dancer in the movie “Bolden!”. Cassandra’s background in performance, dance education, and choreography led to the creation of her professional dance company, Elite DanceWerks LLC. (EDW) in 2016. The company began as a summer project and blossomed into an effort to reach and inspire dancers worldwide. EDW’s services target dancers from the ages of 7 and up. The company specializes in private lessons, choreography, master classes, and consulting services. Some of EDW’s clients include Philadelphia 76ers Dancers,  Elon University Dance Team, The North Carolina Black Film Festival,  and East Carolina University Dance Team. Cassandra loves sharing her knowledge and passion for dance with students and clients hoping to inspire, motivate, and challenge them beyond what they believe they can be! Currently, Cassandra is still growing the EDW brand. She also serves as the dance director of the Heritage High School Dance Academy in Conyers, Georgia,  as a judge for Fusion National Dance Competition and Impact Dance Adjudicators, and teaches weekly adult dance classes at Dance 101 Studios.

Jazz On Tap is an annual festival consisting of dance master classes and performances.

REGISTRATION

REGISTRATION TO PERFORM AT THE 36TH ANNUAL JAZZ ON TAP IS NOW OPEN!

THIS COMING YEAR:

-In 2023, the festivals will take place at the lovely Buford Community Center/Sylvia Beard Theatre.

-The cost to perform is $80 per piece.

-There is a maximum of 6 pieces per studio per show. No solos, duos, or trios.

-After you register the amount of dances you'd like to perform, fill out the Google Form below to tell us your #1 and #2 preferred show times. 

-We have four performance opportunities for Jazz on Tap. Each show is expected to last a maximum of 1 hour and 30 minutes. 

 

-Here are the times available for performances:

Friday, March 10th @ 7pm

Saturday, March 11th @ 4pm

Saturday, March 11th @ 7pm

Sunday, March 12th @ 4pm

 

-Master Classes will take place during the following times:

-Saturday, March 5th from 9:30am-3:00pm

-Sunday, March 6th from 9:00am-3:00pm 

-Master Class tickets will be available on January 1st, 2023 and tickets are $25/class. Our Master Class schedule will be available soon.

 

-Tickets to our performances will be available on January 1st, 2022. The performance ticket price is $25.
